Kids need magic, guidance and inspiration (at least that is what I needed as a kid). Now that I am a teacher, this is what I (try to) bring to the kids in my class. Even on Fridays after 5

Since I was a kid, I have filled notebooks and papers and blackboards with drawings. I always thought that was something big for me, but teaching was bigger. I am now 26 and I am an Arts teacher, which is the absolute dream to me because it includes both of my passions.

My name is Tesa (it is actually Teresa) and I am 26 years old, and I have a big part of my room filled with those notebooks and they are my biggest possession. I have taught in 4 countries and 4 languages, meeting kids from all around the world. They remind me a lot of myself and the doubts I had and how I would handle them, and I have always lived by 1 rule: since I am lucky to have a vocation, I should deliver the best service I can, every day, to every student. That is why I keep learning at Fridays after 5 when I finish working at the school, because I think teachers should be in constant development and formation.

This is a web where I post my work in Arts (it is always under construction, so do not get scared if you suddenly find 10 more things or a new update). It is for all of you who need inspiration and examples on how it is possible to grow in Arts by yourself, with classes, at any age, anywhere, on any topic. just with the disposition to learn and enjoy.

The next thing coming here is a blog with stories, just because it is nice to read a letter from a teacher with some magic in it, because life is also about little stories that happen and light up our days, and it is crucial to notice them too (and it is part of teaching and part of any type of art). Self expression is the ultimate goal here. Stay tuned because it will arrive soon!!!

Also, the kids I have taught live all around the world: USA, Brazil, Germany, China, Mexico, Japan, Italy, France, Switzerland… so this is my answer to when we say goodbye and they ask me: “how can we keep in contact?”

Just because teaching stays with kids even on Fridays after 5 and that is also the time teachers should keep learning at.

This is what my Fridays after 5 look like

These drawings tell my story through colors and lines. I am also working on incorporating some stories in the future. Sometimes, I will invite people with more knowledge in certain situations, so we can also learn from more experienced people (and because you should never only listen to 1 teacher! Never ever!)

Stories and drawings are always in the making. Check the web from time to time for a surprise

Art is my favorite thing! And I think a lot of my kid version. I am sure you do too. I think everybody does. Sometimes we can become the person we needed when we were younger. This is me trying.

The goal is to express.
